It is important to us to give back to the community. It has been a part of Alpha Chi Omega's culture since it's founding. Alpha Chi Omega's National cause is Domestic Violence Awareness and we are proud to stand for a cause that affects women everywhere. We strive to support "Real Strong Women" across the nation. We host two philanthropies through out the school year. One in the Fall and the other in the Spring. All the proceeds raised from our events go to A Better Way, a local shelter for battered women here in Muncie. In addition to supporting Domestic Violence Awareness, we enjoy giving back to our community and other charitable causes through participating in fraternity and sorority philanthropies and completing service projects together. Take a look and read more about each of our philanthropies!
Fall Philanthropy: Watermelon Bust
Every Fall, for the past 43 years, Alpha Chi have paired with the men of Delta Tau Delta fraternity to host a tournament called "Watermelon Bust" where sororities, fraternities, and non-greek compete through various obstacle courses involving watermelons. There's a watermelon eating contest, watermelon toss, a watermelon slip and slide, and it's a great way to get greeks and non-greeks together to raise money for a great cause. It's also the biggest philanthropy at BSU and campus favorite (which we are pretty proud of). So mark your calendars, you won't want to miss it!
