Hello! My name is Carly Peterson and I am the Vice President of Recruitment for Alpha Chi Omega. I hope with all my heart you are thinking about going Greek, but if you are still on the fence about it, I’m going to offer you my insight. Since I was 12 years old, I knew once I got to college I was going to join a sorority. Granted, I was 12 so I really did not understand what I would be getting myself into. Going through recruitment was one of the most life altering experiences I have ever had. I met some of the most amazing women I will ever meet in my life because of it. Throughout the recruitment process, I’m positive you will hear, “From the outside looking in, you can’t ever understand it. From the inside looking out, you can’t ever explain it.” I cannot stress this statement enough. Going Greek and ultimately joining Alpha Chi Omega, I found my home, my best friends, my shoulders to cry on, the ones I laugh just a little too hard with and my people, for all you Grey’s Anatomy fans. When you walk into a chapter and you feel this wave of relief, you have found your home. The real strong women of Alpha Chi Omega will forever be held very close to my heart, and I cannot thank them enough for making my college experience one to remember.
If I haven't convinced you on why you should go Greek then consider this. Greek life is more than the parties, boys and craziness that TV has portrayed. It is about being apart of something much bigger than yourself. Standing for a cause that you believe in and being the change for future sorority women. Being a sorority woman is more than the blonde hair, skinny and tall stereotypes. It's about embracing who you are and being accepted for everything that you have to offer. If you give recruitment a chance you can find the sisterhood that will stand behind you every step of the way in the journey that we call life. I could think of many reasons that going Greek can change your life but that is a decision that only you can make. My sisters and I hope that you take the chance to step out of your comfort zone to experience what makes up our sisterhood of Alpha Chi Omega. I wish you the best of luck during recruitment and I hope that where ever you end up that it is considered your home away from home. LITB, Carly Peterson VP Recruitment 2017 |
